Good news for Mexico! Freddie Freeman nearly got kicked out with Canada for key WBC game

Freddy Freemanthe brightest star on the team roster Canada in the World Baseball Classic and the Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman, suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury in the third inning of their first round game against Colombia.

Freeman left the game and was replaced by Denzel Clark shortly after, at the end of the fourth inning. The Canada manager says Freddie Freeman is unlikely to play.

Canada will enter its fourth match of the tournament with a 2-1 record, as will last rival Mexico, who looked very good in Sunday’s win over UNITED STATESand the manager Ernie Whit told reporters that Freeman is unlikely to take the field in the crucial game as the winner will secure their spot in the next round.

“Had stiffness in your hamstring muscle. Of course, for precautionary reasons, we removed it from the game immediately. He felt something in one of his swings on his second at bat. I don’t expect Freddie to be here tomorrow. We are waiting for what the doctors say and also the Dodgers. Again, the most important thing is your health,” Whitt said.

The Canada-Mexico rivalry has a long history in the tournament, including a brawl in which the benches were ejected after Mexican pitchers intentionally pitched Canadian batters due to a stolen base by a player from the ‘Maple Leaf‘ after a beating in favor of Canada which ended up winning by a score of 10-3.
