Tegucigalpa – Real España of Honduras traveled to Canada on Monday for the first leg against the Vancouver Whitecaps of the Champions League of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Football ( Concacaf).

Led by Uruguayan Julio Rodríguez, Real España traveled from San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras, where they are based, with a technical stopover in Miami, USA.

The Honduran team reached its first match in the Concacaf Champions League after losing 0-3 to Motagua on Saturday on the eleventh day of the domestic Clausura tournament, where it is fifth in the standings with fifteen points.

Rodríguez said the day before that the Vancouver Whitecaps, despite having lost two games in a row, are a “tough” rival and have a good squad of players.

He added that the series between the two teams “will be very equal”, as Real España will seek to justify themselves to their fans, after the poor performance shown in the Clausura, in which they won four games, drew three and lost. four .

The second leg between the two clubs will be played on March 15 in San Pedro Sula.

Two other teams competing in the Concacaf tournament are Olimpia, who will host Atlas of Mexico on Wednesday, and Motagua, who will face Pachuca, also of Mexico, on Thursday. EFE
