The photograph “Lightning over Turet Arch”, by photographer Luis Vilariño López triumphs at the María Luisa Memorial. The image, in addition to winning the Natural Landscapes category, received the absolute prize of the 33rd Maria Luisa Memorial, Grand Prize of the Cajastur Foundation. Among young photographers under the age of nineteen, the prize went to Canadian photographer Nichole Vijayan. The jury, after evaluating the 17,035 photographs submitted to the competition by the 1,328 registered photographers from 83 countries, considered the photographs that proved to be the most technically valuable and the most visually impressive, thus obtaining this set of truly unique images. Fifteen main prizes and nine honorable mentions for each of the fifteen categories that made up the competition.
The other winners are: in the Mountain Landscape category, Armand Sarlangue (France); in mountaineering and winter sports, Vegard Aasen (Norway); in climbing, Marcin Ciepielewski (Poland); in Adventure and Extreme Sports, Fabrice Guerin (France); in the Man in Mountain-Nature category, Shibasish Saha (India); in Animal World, Yingping Li (China); World of Birds, Csaba Daróczi (Hungary); in Plant World, Norbert Kaszás (Hungary); in Submerged World, Csaba Daróczi (Hungary); in biodiversity, Sergey Gorshkov (Russia); in Creative Photo, Tibor Litauszki (Hungary); in the world of children. Macro photo, Rubén Pérez Novo (Spain); and in the theme of the year devoted to photography on the African continent, David Rouge (Switzerland).
Videos and movies
As for the category of videos, films and documentaries, the big winner, the Foto Ruano Grand Prize, was Skin of the jungle, by Cristóbal Serrano (Spain). In this category, the jury also awarded seven other thematic prizes and honorable mentions.

Although, as always, the real moment to enjoy it will again be the audiovisual and outdoor exhibition that will be presented on the occasion of the awards ceremony and other commemorative events, these will take place, in Infiesto and Oviedo, on May 5th and 6th. The Philharmonic Theater and the Hotel de La Reconquista in Oviedo will once again host the awards gala, with free admission.
