The news that Avril Lavigne and Derek Ryan Smith, known professionally as Mod Sun, have split comes after they TMZ unveiled photos of the interpreter of Complicated with rapper Tyga (yes, Kylie Jenner’s ex), hugging and flirting outside a restaurant in Los Angeles, California, USA, before driving off in the same car.

According to sources cited by the American portal, the artists have been spending a lot of time together lately.

The footage has traveled the internet confusing fans of the 38-year-old singer-songwriter, who recently, through his spokesperson, announced the unilateral end of his engagement to Mod Sun.

However, not only the Fans d’Avril are left baffled by the news, but also her ex-fiancé, as it appears the split took the singer, who is currently on tour, by surprise, as his rep assured Mod was unaware of the annulment of the engagement.

They were together and engaged until three days ago when he went on tour, so if anything has changed he has no idea.

The couple’s last public appearance was at a pre-party for the 65th Grammy Awards earlier this month. According to sources cited by People, Avril Lavigne decided to end her relationship with Mod Sun after the couple had faced a number of disputes in recent months, but the singer was confident that everything would be fine.
