Málaga, November 21 (EFE).- Canada saves its star Félix Auger-Aliassime in this Tuesday’s quarter-final (4:00 p.m.) against Finland and opts for Milos Raonic and Gabriel Diallo in the singles of the Davis Cup final which will take place in Málaga.
Auger-Aliassime, student of Toni Nadal, former world number six and leader of the Canadian team which won the Davis Cup last year in Malaga, was not selected by Franck Dancevic, captain of the team, for compete in the qualifying round which opens the competition. .
The North American team is banking on former world number three Milos Raonic, 2016 Wimbledon finalist, who has not faced Davis since 2018 and who replaced Denis Shapovalov. He will face Finnish Patrick Kaukovalta in the first round.
For the second individual match it will be Gabriel Diallo, 139th in the ranking, who will face Otto Virtanen (171st), who showed a very good level during the previous group stage.
With the possibility of last minute changes, the doubles would be played by Alexis Galarneau and Vasek Pospisil on the Canadian side against Harri Heliovaara and Patrik Niklas-Salminen on the Finnish side.
