They arrest the intellectual author of the murder of two Canadian tourists

The Citizen Security Secretariat said it had detained Oscar Ivan “N”alleged intellectual author of the murder of two Canadian tourists that occurred in January 2022, at the Xcaret water park, located in the municipality of Solidaridad, Quintana Roo.

Authorities said the arrest took place in Mexico City after several months of intelligence and joint work between theto the Attorney General of Justice of Quintana Roo and to the Secretariat for Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC).

“They were located in Mexico City from Chiapas, for which the field staff of the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination They implemented an operation in the office of the mayor of Gustavo A. Madero, one of the people was identified as Oscar Iván “N”, who has an arrest warrant for homicide and attempted homicide”, reads the statement released by the agency.

On January 21, a shooting inside the Xcaret Hotel left two dead and another injured, all of Canadian origin.

State Security Secretary Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez said the shots were the result of “a discussion between hotel guests”.

He also posted footage of the guest allegedly shooting foreign tourists.

Days later, it was revealed that Cong Dihn, one of the men shot dead inside an Xcaret hotel, was wanted by Canadian authorities for suspected money laundering.

According to a bulletin issued by Canadian police, in coordination with the Be On The Lookout (BOLO) program, authorities there have offered $50,000 as a reward for information on his whereabouts.
