An operation with dozens of elements of state and federal forces was deployed this Monday with the aim of recovering the security of Nuevo San Juan, the municipal seat of Parangarícutiro, a city that was in the hands of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) .
The caravan of elements from the State Secretariat for Public Security, the State Attorney General’s Office, the Army and the National Guard extended early to this community, blocked in the avocado zone of the ‘entity.
As the deployment approached the main entrance to Nuevo San Juan, gunmen supported by some locals set fire to a truck and a taxi, in an attempt to impede the authorities’ advance.
After a few minutes, the various corporations enter the municipal headquarters and take control of security, including aerial surveillance.
Videos released by some residents also show that at least twenty vehicles were shot down on their way to Tancítaro.

Other cells in the service of the CJNG, whose leadership is attributed to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, “el Mencho”, robbed other private and commercial units and set them on fire at four different points in the neighboring municipality of Uruapan.
Authorities reported the burning of vehicles in the neighborhoods of La Mora and San Rafael, as well as in Quirindavara and Cheranguerán, in Uruapan, where the CJNG also operates.
Later, elements of the police were attacked by armed persons at the municipal headquarters of Uruapan.
Officers responded to the assault and, after a chase, managed to arrest three of the attackers, who were also involved in the theft and burning of vehicles.
Michoacán Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla declined to give details, but confirmed the operation in Nuevo San Juan. He said the results will be announced later.
