Superblue Miami, immersive work to interact with your heart
“Pulse Topology” by renowned artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, in Superblue Miami, until August 2023. It is an extraordinary immersive biometric work of art that allows you to follow in the footsteps of your own heart. In fact, you can listen to your heartbeat by placing your open palm a short distance from a sensor. At the end, all the beats come together as if it were a single heart.
This work of art consists of 3,000 suspended light bulbs, each lighting up to the rhythm of the heartbeats of the different participants. “Pulse Topology” has a series of ridges and valleys of lights with sensors detecting new heartbeats, replacing older ones. This creates what is called a Memento Mori, a Latin phrase that recalls the mortality of human beings. This is when all the rhythms connect with each other. It is a magical moment filled with a powerful poetic force in the room.
The works of the famous Mexican-Canadian artist Lozano-Hemmer are activated with the biometric data of the participants in real time, that is to say with their heartbeat, their breathing, their voice or their fingerprints. Art on the Plaza Series: “To What Lengths” by VantaBlack, until January 20, 2023. Chire Regans, better known as VantaBlack, presents a reflection on the construction and preservation of the heritage of black culture and other peoples of the diaspora.
