Zelensky: “We did not attack Putin, we leave it to a court”
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky He today denied that his security forces attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a drone attack on the Kremlin allegedly carried out by kyiv yesterday morning, official Moscow spokesmen assured us on Wednesday.
“We are not attacking Putin or Moscow, we are only fighting on our territory, we are defending our towns and villages”Zelensky said in Helsinki at a joint press conference with the leaders of Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
“We did not attack Putin, we leave him to a court”, said the Ukrainian head of state in reference to Ukrainian efforts for the international community to find mechanisms to prosecute Putin for military aggression against Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine said that Ukraine does not have “enough weapons” to attack Moscow and the attempted assassination of Putin at his workplace, refuting the charges made public today by the Russian Presidency.
Asked about the reasons Russia may have for falsely accusing Ukraine of this alleged assassination attempt which, according to the Kremlin, took place at dawn yesterday, Zelensky replied that “Russia has no victories to celebrate and can no longer motivate its public and send soldiers to die as if nothing had happened.” For this reason, and according to the Ukrainian President, Russia launches these kinds of accusations to make up for the lack of results on the front.
