Mexico, (EFE).- The technology company Microsoft Mexico presented this Monday a data center in the state of Querétaro, which will open from the second half of this year, and with which it seeks to facilitate the installation of several companies in the country.

In this way, Mexico will become the first Spanish-speaking country to host a Microsoft data center, which will allow companies to store information, strengthen its security, speed up electronic procedures and sustainability.

“The crown jewel in the region (Mexico) is the data center. It is not a data center, which connects to other places in the world to transmit information, it is a massive construction with the latest technology that allows you to have areas of residence of information”, detailed Christian Viany, director of operations of the company in Mexico, during a meeting with the media.

From the services that the data center will offer, he explained, manufacturing companies, banking systems and financial technology will benefit above all.

Among the companies that have expressed interest in working with the data center, said the director of the project known as “Central Mexico”, Juan José Delgado, are “international banking institutions such as Spanish or Canadian banks”. .

In addition, Delgado pointed out, this project is part of the installation of multinational companies in Mexican territory, to which they will offer the possibility of having their data stored in the national territory, “which is very important for industries such as financial services”.

The company announced the opening of the center without specifying a date and, although the start of the project was announced almost three years ago, it did not provide data on the amount invested.

In view of the inauguration of the center, detailed the officials, for security reasons, the president of the country, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will not be able to attend.

At the structural level, explained the technical architect of the project, Rodrigo Gómez, Querétaro will house what is called a data region, since it will be made up of three availability zones.

“It’s not just a data center, it’s on a larger scale,” Gómez insisted.

Among the various models of Microsoft data centers, the one in Querétaro (central Mexico) is state-of-the-art and will be seven times faster than the nearest, located in the border state of Texas, in the United States.

As part of its social commitment in the Querétaro region, said the company’s director of philanthropy in Mexico, Lupina Loperena, they are training nearly 300 people in cybersecurity to “open doors for them in the workplace. “.
